skin care products, fragrance perfumeWe live in a time where leaving the front door unlocked is nothing short of a bad idea accept for those lucky small town parts of the country which are nowhere near the big city I live within. All the vitamins minerals in the world matched with body building nutritional supplements for strength wouldn’t help protect a home full of goodies if no one there to protect it. It is sort of a bleak outlook but I have been thinking of ways to add some security to my apartment. There hasn’t been any break ins or anything past a couple smashed windows in the parking garage over the year I have lived here but a techy article about transforming a web cam into a motion activated security camera really spurred my interest.

 I find out there are countless pay for, freeware and sometimes built in motion detection software available online or within a laptop. My laptop didn’t come with a webcam so I wanted to see how much they cost online. After some quick searching, I found a retailer called Electronics for Tomorrow at http://www.conceptsfortomorrow.net/ which has an assortment of web cams for great prices. The one that really stood out to me was a Creative Live! Video IM Ultra Webcam seen in the picture above costing a cool 49.99.  Attached by a USB cord, this baby can capture high definition video and clear sound because of a built-in noise cancelling microphone. For the people who like to video chat, it comes with software to make that easy too.

 I am more interested in creating an at home security camera so this looked like the perfect cam to catch any intruders if that day ever comes. I even found a program that costs nothing and will email any detected video or images captured to an email so a person can catch a bad guy red handed when they are away from home.
For people with pets, it would be cool to see what their furry friends are doing when the masters are away. If fido likes to tear up pillows, setting up a webcam aimed at the bed and set to motion detect would really be 21st century way to catch man’s best friend being naughty from anywhere there is web access.

My girlfriend wants skin care products or fragrance perfume for Christmas. I simply want a web cam. I think she has it easier in terms of shopping. All I can say is thank god for online shopping because going into a store and asking about skin creams, fragrance perfumes and assorted skin care products is never a comfortable undertaking.
