Nutritional Supplements
As a trainer, I am often asked about whether or not someone should add nutritional supplements to their diet. Supplements can be both a great addition to your diet. I learned that choosing whether or not to use vitamins, minerals, and other types of nutritional supplements largely depends on what your goals are.
I talked with two different people this past week about their supplements and diet. Both had two different goals. One wanted to gain muscle and lose fat, while the other just wanted to tone up her body while also losing some excess fat. My training taught me that if the bodybuilder type wanted to gain muscle he needed to concentrate on multi-vitamin nutritional supplements, whey protein shakes three times a day, and a supplement called creatine which helps with muscle recovery.
To the woman who wanted to tone up and lose a few pounds in excess fat large amounts of nutritional supplementations would not be necessary. Taking daily multi-vitamin supplements, and some caffeine would help with focus, and drain the body of excess fluids. Other than that, a healthy, balanced diet is all that is needed. I learned from both experience and training that nutritional supplements are great if you have the right ones added into your diet for the right reasons.
